Jammu, Feb 16 (KNO): Top Army commanders on Monday visited the general area of Kishtwar to review the Counter Terrorism Grid and assess operational preparedness of troops deployed in the region. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), General Officer Commanding (GOC) of White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Lieutenant General P K Mishra, accompanied by the General Officer Commanding of Counter-Insurgency Force (Delta), during their visit assessed operational preparedness of troops deployed in the region. “The senior commanders received updates on the prevailing security scenario, operational challenges and ongoing measures to strengthen the security framework and inter-agency coordination among the Army, police and Central Reserve Police Force in the hilly districts,” said an official. “The focus of deliberations was on enhancing vigilance, accelerating intelligence-driven operations and sustaining a robust security posture in the Chenab Valley and adjoining areas,” he added. Pertinently the visit came against the backdrop of intensified counter-terror efforts in both Kishtwar and neighbouring Udhampur districts. In recent weeks, joint operations by the Army, J&K Police, CRPF and other forces have led to significant engagements with terrorists linked to banned terrorist outfits, resulting in neutralisation of suspected operatives in both regions. These actions form part of a coordinated campaign to dismantle terror networks and disrupt their movement through dense forests and mountainous terrain. Security forces have continued search and cordon operations amid challenging weather and landscape, emphasising enhanced surveillance, aviation support and reinforcement of forward positions to maintain area dominance—(KNO)
